Dear Parents and Students,

Happy New Year to everyone!

The second interim report of the year recently went home. The interim report is NOT a grade, just a comment on how the student is doing so far in the marking period. An S for satisfactory means that the student is doing fine and should keep up the good work. The grade at the end of the marking period may be an A, B or C.  These are satisfactory grades. If the interim listed NI or U, then much time and effort on the part of the student will need to be devoted to improve the math grade.

Currently we are doing multiplication of whole numbers and decimals. We will focus on estimating the answers before multiplying as well as using the work in context of problem solving. The next page includes the curriculum overview and some helpful hints.

Below is the logic puzzle from last month if you didn't try it, please do. Answers are on page 2.

  1. Francesca arrived before three of the penguins and after three others.

  3. Charles was very happy not be last.
