Distance Learning

 

            This PowerPoint lesson plan is designed for a fifth grade regular education mathematics classroom inconjuction with the social studies curriculum when they study the United States. The cognitive domain objectives are to further develop social studies concepts. The affective domain objectives focus on team work skills.

            This is a continuation of a problem solving unit being used throughout the school year. The students are to develop a distance learning presentation that illustrates and explains in detail a location in the United States. within the activity. The goal is to foster interest in the different types of areas in the U.S. and encourage the students to travel there in person.

 

General Objective-

 

The student will develop a social studies presentation based on a previously chosen location in the United States.

 

Cognitive domain objectives-

 

The student will use internet research skills with 100 percent accuracy.

           

The student will identify the steps needed to complete a cohesive presentation with 90 percent accuracy.

 

The student will support their work with a detailed presentation.

 

The student will complete a distance learning presentation by using the internet with 90 percent accuracy.

           

The students presentation will contain at least four distance learning components.

 

Affective domain objectives-

            The student will follow rules for working in a small group setting 90 percent of      the time.

 

           

            

Lesson Plan

 

            In groups of three students, the M.S.I. agents will construct a presentation about a given location in the United States. The students will develop a storyboard to plan for their distance learning presentation. The students are to develop a distance learning presentation that depicts the location in the United States that they chose during their open-ended math summer vacation problem solving activity.
